Actor’s Theatre’s Hot Fudge Pudding Cake is a delightful dessert that combines the rich flavors of chocolate and bourbon with a gooey, fudgy center. Perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in, the cake is an impressive treat that everyone will love.

When it comes to ingredients, feel free to swap the bourbon for vanilla extract if you prefer a non-alcoholic version. And if coffee liqueur isn’t on hand, a splash of strong brewed coffee could work wonders. Be cautious with cocoa quality; using high-quality cocoa powder can really enhance the fudge flavor, while allergies to gluten or dairy can be managed with appropriate substitutes.

Actor’s Theatre’s Hot Fudge Pudding Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon Bourbon
- 2 teaspoons coffee liqueur (Kahlua or Tia Maria)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish and set it aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons cocoa, and 2 teaspoons baking powder until well blended.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1 tablespoon Bourbon, 2 teaspoons coffee liqueur, and 1/2 cup milk until smooth.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, stir together 1 cup water, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 1/4 cup cocoa until dissolved.
- Pour the syrupy mixture over the batter in the pan. It might look odd, but trust me, it will work out just fine.
- Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the center feels firm to the touch and sounds hollow when tapped. Remember, the dessert should be gooey underneath its crust, so don’t wait for a toothpick to come out clean.
