If you’re looking to add a touch of whimsy to your dessert table, the Cookie & Candy Penguins are a playful choice that will charm any audience. The delightful treats are as fun to make as they are to eat, perfect for gatherings or just a sweet afternoon activity with friends.

For those with dietary restrictions, consider using dairy-free chocolate bark or vegan marshmallows. You can substitute the chocolate malted milk balls with any round chocolate candy if allergenic ingredients are a concern. As for the cream-filled cookies, any similar brand can work, but the classic Oreos do hold a special place in the dessert universe.

Cookie & Candy Penguins Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 ounces chocolate bark, for candy-making
- 12 large marshmallows
- 6 chocolate malted milk balls
- 12 miniature chocolate chips
- 12 pieces candy corn
- 6 cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies (i.e. Oreos)
Instructions
- Melt 2 ounces of chocolate bark in the microwave according to package directions until smooth.
- Dab melted chocolate onto the top of 6 large marshmallows, then place the remaining 6 marshmallows on top to form pairs.
- Dip the marshmallow pairs into the melted chocolate, leaving a vertical white strip down the middle for the penguins’ chests to create the bodies.
- Attach a chocolate malted milk ball to the top of each chocolate-covered marshmallow pair with a dab of chocolate, which will be the penguin’s head.
- Use two miniature chocolate chips as eyes, gluing them onto the chocolate malt ball with a bit of chocolate (a toothpick works well for the task).
- Cut the white tips off of 12 pieces of candy corn and reserve 6 of the white tips to use as beaks for the penguins.
- Separate the cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies, ensuring the white cream stays on one side.
- Cut the six cookie halves without cream in half to create wings. Be gentle; they can break easily during the process.
- Use a dab of chocolate to attach each wing to either side of the marshmallow penguin body, with the cut side facing front.
- Dab some melted chocolate on the remaining cookie halves with cream facing upwards, then attach them at the bottom of each marshmallow penguin as the base.
- Finally, attach the remaining orange and yellow cut pieces of candy corn as feet to the bottom of each marshmallow and on top of the cookie.
