Focaccia Bread Mix recipe

When selecting ingredients for Focaccia Bread Mix, opt for high-quality flour for the best texture, and make sure the yeast is fresh, as old yeast can lead to disappointing results. If you’re gluten-sensitive, consider using a gluten-free flour blend, although the texture may vary. Feel free to experiment with different herbs or spices to tailor the flavor to your liking.

Focaccia Bread Mix Recipe

Total Time≤ 1 hour
Servings1
Serving Size1 (2740 g)

Ingredients

  • 12 cups flour
  • 4 cups cornmeal
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups water (120 degrees)
  • 2 tablespoons yeast
  • 4 cups bread mix

Instructions

  1. In a large tub or bowl, combine 12 cups of flour, 4 cups of cornmeal, 4 teaspoons of salt, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of yeast. Mix well with a wire whisk.
  2. For a herby twist, add 2 tablespoons of sweet basil or a blend of Italian herbs and give it another good mix.
  3. Store the blend in plastic containers for future use.
  4. To bake, combine 2 cups of water heated to 120 degrees with the bread mix. Be careful not to overheat the water, or you could kill the yeast.
  5. Mix until smooth, forming a firm ball of dough that isn’t sticky. If your dough feels sticky, gradually add more flour until it firms up.
  6. Refrigerate the dough for a day for optimal flavor development. If short on time, let it rise for a couple of hours, punching it down when it doubles in size.
  7. In a hurry? Roll out the dough right away and allow it to rise for just 15 minutes before baking.
  8. Divide the dough into 3 pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into a circle about 1/2 inch thick and place on greased baking sheets.
  9. Let the dough proof for another 15 minutes before using your fingers to create impressions in the dough. Brush with melted butter or olive oil, and lightly add Italian sauce.
  10. Get creative with toppings like Parmesan and fresh rosemary if you desire.
  11. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, or until nicely browned and crusty with a brown bottom.
  12. Once baked, brush again with melted butter or olive oil, then wrap the cooled bread in plastic wrap to freeze.
