Great American Cookie Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 1/3 cups sugar, divided
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups m&m’s milk chocolate candies
- 2 butterfinger candy bars, coarsely chopped
- 0.5 (8 ounce) package toffee pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, mix together 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup butter, 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar, and 1 cup granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Beat in 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add in your choice of mix-ins, like 2 cups of m&m’s milk chocolate candies, 2 coarsely chopped butterfinger candy bars, and 0.5 (8 ounce) package of toffee pieces, mixing until just combined. If you prefer plain peanut butter cookies, you can skip the step.
- Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough into the remaining 1/3 cup of granulated sugar, shaping the dough into balls.
- Place the cookie balls about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten them slightly with a fork dipped in sugar.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cookies are just set and feel slightly firm to the touch. Avoid over-baking, as they’ll continue to crisp up while cooling.
- Let them cool on the cookie sheets for one minute before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
