When it comes to ingredients, quality really matters. Using fresh garlic enhances the flavor, while good quality feta cheese brings richness. For those with dietary restrictions, feel free to substitute the bread flour with a gluten-free blend, ensuring it’s suitable for your dietary needs. Kalamata olives can be replaced with green olives if that’s what you have on hand, and honey can be swapped for agave syrup for a vegan option.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 1/4 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup sliced kalamata olive
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 3/4 teaspoon bread machine yeast or 3/4 teaspoon fast rising yeast

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup of water into the baking pan first, followed by 1/3 cup of crumbled feta cheese and 3 minced garlic cloves. Then, add 1 1/4 teaspoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
  2. Next, carefully measure in 3 1/4 cups of bread flour, creating a gentle mound over the wet ingredients. Sprinkle in 1/2 cup of sliced kalamata olives and 2 teaspoons of dried oregano on top of the flour.
  3. Finally, add 3/4 teaspoon of bread machine yeast or fast rising yeast to the mixture, ensuring it sits on top without mixing it in yet.
  4. Insert the baking pan into the oven chamber of the bread machine. Select the Basic Cycle setting and press start to begin the baking process.
  5. When the baking cycle comes to an end, promptly remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack. It’s crucial to let it cool to room temperature before slicing to maintain its texture.
