When it comes to the pancake batter, feel free to explore other brands or make your own from scratch. If anyone has allergies, consider using gluten-free alternatives for the batter. Pancake Messages Recipe
Ingredients
- pancake batter (I use Bisquick heart healthy, the richer option, and add well cut-up bananas)
- food coloring
- pens in various colors
Instructions
- Heat an ungreased, unbuttered griddle to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Drop 2 teaspoons of pancake batter onto the griddle, gently spreading it with a small spatula or spoon.
- Aim to fit about 18 pancakes on the griddle at once for efficient cooking.
- Cook the pancakes for about 3 minutes on the first side until they turn a light brown. If they get too dark, the pen colors might not show up well.
- Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another 2 minutes until fully cooked.
- Once cooked, let the pancakes cool on a wire rack.
- When cooled, choose to either freeze the pancakes or write your messages immediately on the first side using the food coloring pens. Remember, the pancake is soft, so glide the pen over the surface gently without pressing too hard.
- If frozen, reheat up to 4 stacked pancakes in the microwave for 30 to 45 seconds.
