Snowflake Cookies are a delightful treat that perfectly capture the essence of winter. With their simple yet charming design, the cookies are not just a joy to make but also to share during the holiday season. Gather your ingredients and let’s create some snowy magic in your kitchen.

When it comes to the ingredients, using unsalted butter can help you control the saltiness of the cookies. If you need a dairy-free option, consider substituting the butter with a non-dairy margarine or coconut oil. For those with gluten sensitivities, a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend can work wonders, though the texture may vary. Always ensure that your baking ingredients are fresh for the best flavor and results.

Snowflake Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- white icing (for writing)
- oil (to grease pans)
Instructions
- Before starting, grease two cookie sheets with cooking oil.
- Put 6 tablespoons of softened butter into a bowl and stir until creamy.
- Sift in 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and stir until the mixture is smooth.
- Sift in 1 cup of all-purpose flour and stir it in with a wooden spoon. Then, using your hands, squeeze the mixture to form a dough.
- Flatten the dough slightly before wrapping it in plastic wrap and refrigerating for 30 minutes. While the dough chills, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Dust a rolling pin and a clean work surface with a little flour. Be careful not to use too much, or the dough will become tough. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut out circles with a cookie cutter. Squeeze the scraps into a ball, roll it out again, and cut out more circles.
- Place the circles onto the greased cookie sheets, about 6 on each. Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and let them sit on the sheets for about 2 minutes. Then, using a spatula, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before icing.
- To decorate, use the white icing to draw a line down the center of one cookie. Add two more lines crossing over to create an X shape.
- Finish the snowflake design by adding small lines of icing across the ends of the lines. Feel free to make each one unique, just like real snowflakes.
